Its been stiring me in the face, i recently did 2 remix's of Miguel Migs "so far" track, loved it and really enjoyed doing both of them, i have a few acapellas laying around and was searching them looking for a suitable vox i could remix but couldn't find any that really captured me and fit like so far did, well Ed reminded me of the Defected acapella packs, i browsed them and have found a fair few i just knew would work so any one here looking for good vocals to remix here's the heads up

Heads Up gents.. Just heard from DMC that the track to be offered for remix to DV247 Forum members will be announced early next week, straight after their attendance at the forthcoming BPM show this weekend. Something to look forward to eh?!

Defected Acapella's are the way to go

Ok, not so good news
.. and perhaps some good news..![]() DMC have called me to apologise and explain that they have as regards an 'open' competition, had to put this on ice for the time being. Their PPL licence evidently currently restricts them from openly distributing an acapella or parts made available for public download/competition use. However.. if any member interested wishes to PM me their intent to participate in remixing a track, there is a more possible chance that I can send parts etc direct to you where, if you choose to do so, you can remix and submit back to me and I'll pass on to DMC for consideration of usage.. This however has no guarantee of release, and doesn't allow the 'Peer Review' input we'd all hope for and like. Sorry this initiative hasn't materialised as we'd all hoped for but we did try.. On hopefully a brighter note, I'm still keen on getting something going along the lines of the original 'open' competition/initiative discussed, which may involve me perhaps approaching an actual record label who'd be happy to get involved. I'm still of the firm belief that the 'Peer Review' and member support/input is one of the main positives of such an initiative. I'll do my best to get this moving again.. ______________________________

Thanks Modz1 for the feedback and update.
It's a pity with all your work that things haven't materialised as you had hoped for. That's life, I suppose. I do think that my original idea of a support/workshop type system would be very welcome here on the forums to those of us who would like to learn and improve remixing techniques. Although I am not getting much time for any of this at the moment, I would still like to see something materialise along these lines. Maybe we could try another approach...one that might not be competition based? Any ideas (from anyone) on how this could be organised? |

PM sent
@sphelan, i think it would be a great idea. may be we have a member who has a completely original track, finished and on point of release who would be interested in having a remix to go with it? any memebers here? or we could all decide to work on a public remix release? but we have had one which ed offered and we haven't really heard anything back from anyone which is a shame because imo the parts where excellent. i dont think we need a prize to be an incentive to do a remix, we could just have a poll at the end of a given time frame and let the members decide which is their favourite? ______________________________
