I have a couple
Cardioid & Hyper Cardioid - A type of polar pattern response. Convolution - The process of mixing two signals together, with the aim of using one signal to shape the other. Typical applications involve mimicing vintage hardware and reverb for processing audio. dB - A scale used to define the relative energy of a signal. Frequency Response - Typically a graph that displays the behaviour of a piece of equipment over a band of frequencies. Figure Of 8 - A type of polar pattern response. Interpolation - Typically associated with the process of resampling digital audio between sample rates. Latency - A delay induced by the time it takes a signal to pass in,through and out of a processor. Or more simply, latency is the time taken between an input and output of a given system. Nyquist Theorem - This is critical to all digital audio. The principle idea is that in order to accurately sample both sides of a waveform, the samplerate must therefore be twice that of the the highest frequency being recorded. Having a sample rate double that of the audio frequency also avoids aliasing. Quantise (MIDI) - Functions that affect the position of MIDI data. WHen quantised, MIDI data will 'snap' to the nearest defined interval (eg 1/16 or 1/8). RT60 - Defines the time period taken by a reverb tail to fall 6dB the generating source. Sample & Hold Circuit - This is a feature built into ADC and DAC convertors. The idea here is to prevent errors by holding the value until the next value is called for. The sample & hold is therefore also locked to the samplerate of the system. |
