Can anyone give me a step-by-step tutorial of how to get a piece of live music (that might drift in/out of time) and create a loop that is in time to use in a remix on Logic Studio 8?
Thanks in advance, Tom Logic Studio 8 Edirol PCR-500 MacBook 2.2GHz 2GB RAM |

I think, as a start, it is best to get an idea of the general tempo of the live track, you can do this using the BPM counter in Logic 8 or by using your ears and the metronome. - perhaps round the tempo off to a slightly faster speed than the fastest point of the song as timestreching audio to slow it down tends to have more destructive effects than speeding it up. - then use logic's timestretch function (think off the top of my head it is alt-drag) for the individual drum hits etc etc, or simply chop up loops of drums and work with them. Recycle or Beat detective (in Pro Tools) are amazing for remixing as they allow you to disect beats to make them very tweakable. It is all a very subjective process but to get things nicely synced up - this is probably a good place to start.
