Question How do i record a guitar and vocal at the same time on two seperate tracks

Hi all
Im using logic platinum 5.5 with m audio 2496 sound card, when i record myself singing and playing a guitar at the same time they record over each other. What im trying to say is how do you have both on seperate tracks can anyone help me please?

2 different mics feeding 2 different preamps bussed to 2 different channels (it sounds like you probably have them bussed to the same channel)

Make sure you use two LDC's or ribbons in figure-of-eight pattern. Figure of eight pattern mics have a strong null at the sides and on top...point the top of the guitar mic at the vocalist's mount and the top of the vocalist's mic and the guitar. You'll be able to get extremely clean tracks of the vocal and the guitar with almost no bleed (if you do it right). It takes some tweaking though, so leave a spare half-hour or so.

I routinely get vocal tracks with so little bleed they can be pitch corrected in Melodyne.

Cheers, I take it thats within Logic platinum 5.5 the preamp bussed or is that an external hardware?
