Ok I tried to do something better this time but still something sounds wrong... Since I don't have monitors (or even speakers, for that matter
), I really can't tell how I can make it better quality... (btw love your song "Escape" )http://soundcloud.com/joaovalerio/super-fail |

BTW, you can embed soundclound tracks in posts with something like: [ SOUNDCLOUD]super-fail[/SOUNDCLOUD] (Without the first space after the bracket which I just added to make it readable.) Thanks for comment on escape - that was done using Ableton Live suite - piano, guitar, strings are Live 7 Suite instruments, drums from some samples I have, synth sounds from a Virus TI I think - easily doable in Reason 4, except perhaps the very heavy kick pumping on one of the synth bass sounds - you have to be a bit abstract when getting that kind of thing out of reason as the only side chain capable compressor it has is just nowhere near agressive enough. |

Khazzul, some great ideas and techniques you had on the first page. That's what I love about Reason. The crazy ways you can route things around. It really does reward experimentation. I feel the frustration on slaving it though. I use Sonar with it and can be a bit of a mission, but for the most part, I can get on with it...
Check out this youtube user http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o5PReXpfxK4 and another There's LOADS of users on youtube using Reason and you'll probably dispell any doubts about it's ability for this type of music. I find myself working in the Reason environment solely if I don't have to record live or use specific VSTs. Hit some Thor presets and some Combinator sounds also. There are some pretty 'big' sounds in the soundbanks and the new mastering suite is pretty er... sweet. For every limit of Reason, you can push it in ways you can't with others. Funnily enough, though I hadn't done more than play guitar and rig up an FX pedal. I found Reason an excellent 'virtual' environment to learn about audio routing that is applicable to real hardware counterparts. Reason Tutorials Video Tutorials < I don't know how good these are, but worth checking out. Sorry for dropping so many links at once. Hope there's stuff of use in there. |

Nice! You've got a few more of those sounds you were after, (the swishy build up for one
![]() It's shaping up nicely, keep it going and keep experimenting. Trying to 'reverse engineer' a sound you like is how I've stumbled upon some really cool techniques and methods, producing sounds I wasn't initiall going for but kinda happens... One more link that basically focuses on forming good trance lead melodies. A personal favourite of mine this because of the guy's teaching style lol Trance lead tutorial in reason 4.0 |
