I reckon it will be a completely seperate audio app that may also update the rewire standard. The reason I sold....Reason 4 was that rewire was too much of a pain in the ass to use. At the very least it'll let you run audio through Reason 4 effects as the reverb in Reason is superb, as are the distortions etc etc.

Looking at the info on Propellerhead website (and maybe I'm missing something), it really just looks like Reason (it's got the synths, combinator, Dr. Rex, and the effect etc.) with audio recording added and a new name.

Looks interesting...and there's a discount for Reason owners!

Quote:
Owners of Reason will be able to purchase Record at a discount. The suggested retail price for Record for Reason Owners is $149 USD / €129 EUR.
I don't see the point though of Record Reason Duo:

Quote:
For those that have yet to jump on the Reason train, a bundle deal on Record and Reason will be available at a suggested retail price of $629 USD / €535 EUR.
It looks like Record has everything of Reason...if so...what's the point of buying the latter? Won't Record do it all? And eventually replace Reason?

Is this Propellerhead's way of "not backing down" on the audio front but quietly discontinuing Reason in the future?

i read all the info on the propellerhead website and my verdict is Record looks superb (applied for beta testing )

Because propellerheads have again decided to keep the product self contained you know your going to get a rock solid program which i assume like reason will never crash (well reason has never crashed on me anyway)

So basically if you are already a Reason owner your getting a SSl mixing desk emulation with Buss comp , line 8 pod emulation , what looks line some kind of sound module emulation ID8 and the ability to record for a upgrade price of 129€ its a no brainer.

More interestingly, the crossgrade offer is open to registered users of Reason 1,2,2.5 & 3.

Purchasing the Record for Registered users will also upgrade your Reason to v4 for free...

So basically, you can buy a 2nd hand copy of Reason. Contact Props to reassign the license registration to you, then buy Record and get Reason 4 for nothing. All in all, you can get both apps for anything between £120 (£140 is more realistic)- £200 depending on how much you pay for the old version of Reason.

To match that offer, Props would have to give Record away with every new license of Reason 4. And the cost of the Record/Reason combo for a new set of licenses is £380...

My guess is that they are trying to tempt existing customers away from their rewired daws. Only reason for such an extreme difference. They must be hoping that new users don't see posts like this one...

Did you upgrade from 2.5 to 4, or do you have two physical copies/licenses.

If you upgraded, I imagine that you can't do what you're suggesting.
