Do you want to use Wav files instead of Aif files ? Or are you getting inconsistent playback with Aif files?

Reason should be able to play wav's fine, but it doesn't support mp3's.

Yes agreed I am not aware of any MP3 support in Reason.

It is strange that after loading a Wav, playback works sometimes with the NN19 but not always.

Simply hitting the folder button in the image below should bring up a browser that can find and load .aif, .aiff, .wav, .wave, .sf2, .rcy, .rex and .rx2 files.

Playback should not be different from project to project. Maybe a routing issue?

In any case maybe this will help...
