Default Mbox 2/Pro tools midi out

In pro tools i want to be able to record in a mid sequence (which i can do fine) then tweak it until im happy and then send it back out to an external synth to record the audio from that. however i am unable to send the midi signal out of the integrated midi out port in the mbox. i cannot find the physical out port in pro tools and so can only use the emulated out which i presume is not the one i want.

i have also tried to send the signal via an edirol um1 but the output of this also shows up as emulated so i presume its a protools issue

i am running pro tools le 8.0.3 on a windows vista laptop soon to be upgrading to a macbook pro system YAY!

if anyone could offer a solution to this it would be greatly appreciated

Thanks
Brad

just thought, have you gone into device manager or whatever it's called and added your midi device?

MrT.

He's trying to send data out to a device, not in from a controller.

IF you are using a mac. You might have to go to the Audio/Midi setup Application found in the Apps>Utilities folder and do it there. Although I'd check that you are sending data from the midi channel in PT first.

I think this page might help. I know how to do this in just about every other app aside from Protools. I'm not a user. I find it clumsy compared to other apps. That's not saying it is bad. Has it's strongpoints, but not enough to make me switch.

Anyhow, the page I refer to:
