Ok let's run through a few things:

Is this an m-audio unit? Which one? (You must have a qualifying unit to run m-powered). Tell us exactly what your system is.

Does the icon bounce?

If it isnt the lack of a dongle/qualifying interface it sounds like you have a system conflict. PT is very picky. Do you have a USB hub or something similar connected?

the only other usb hub i have connected is the Netgear wireless adpater but im sure it aint that.

Icons don't bounce on PCs, don't worry about that. That's a Mac thing.

Torrent downloads aren't going to do you any good at all, they're more likely to break something than help you, stay away.

I would start by going to your control panel, add/remove programs, and get rid of your current installation (uninstall). Get rid of anything that says 'Digidesign' 'Pro Tools' 'DAE' or 'M-Audio.' Then reinstall clean from the CD.

Next, you should download the official updates and make sure you're right up to date. Here's the link for the most recent cs update: http://www.digidesign.com/index.cfm?...4&itemid=37616 (the download is right at the bottom of the page).

Make sure the M-Audio box is connected directly to the computer, not a hub. If it's not working, try another USB port.

Your iLok is also plugged into the computer right? Just have to ask...

There's no such thing as a Pro Tools demo.

Anyway, you do need to have the iLok plugged in when you start Pro Tools, as well as the interface.

You can get the latest iLok drivers here: http://www.paceap.com/ (top right, "Interlok drivers" drop-down menu. Download and install those.

Looks like T3 got to the route of your problem: there is no demo and the dongle must be plugged in!

sorry dude
Pro tools demo

do me a favour rap, launch pro tools again and when you see a splash screen with small writing scrolling at the bottom can you tell me what the last thing it says before crashing, my money is you have a plugin or rewire device that is simply not agreeing with PT

if no splash screen how long are you leaving it before quitting and does task manager ever say "not responding"? make sure no other application is running either when you launch

Yes. If you have a dongle plug it in.

I stand corrected on the demo. I thought that when they did away with PTFree they never resurected it.

Do i need to plug in the dongle? caause i think a driver already comes in the cd but not dongle with it.

also it dont come up on aplications and say if i have firefox open or my documents they stop responding it untill i shut PT down from proccess

Please read our posts... yes, the dongle MUST be plugged in. At all times. And you have to have those Pace drivers installed too that I linked to.
