No ADC is an issue. No Offline Bouncing is an issue.

But, PT8 looks nice. 'Lanes' for automation. Elastic Audio and Elastic Pitch (tho..the pitch thing isn't what I'd want it to be..so I'll keep using Melodyne).

some great sounding new AIR plugIns. Good or bad...they aren't as complex as the Logic ones, but they sound great (the organ especially, and, of course, Velvet).

I'd say Digi is pointing a big gun at Apple/Logic/DP users...It's only loaded with BB's at this point. I'm going back to the booth in a bit to see if/what they've done to improve the Post side of ProTools.

and..fwiw..pretty much anyone at AES that's running some software plugins to demo their wares is running it on Logic (a few Cuebase/PC systems as well)..but, mostly Logic.
from some one live at AES, i like the last bit

If that's true (and who knows if that's right, I would have guessed cubase users actually) then it's because HD users tend towards hardware plugins!

Nice video. Thanks for posting that. A bit more info on the new instruments this time. Not bad. I think Phil Jackson used to be a demo specialist for Emagic / Apple back in the day.

Automatic Delay Compensation.

To compensate for sample delay introduced by processor-intensive plug-ins and/or outboard hardware inserts.

Every other commercially available DAW has some example of it, Pro Tools LE & M-Powered do not.

Here's something else I've just learned that's a bit troublesome - it seems that with the CPTK we're back to the "voicing" concept that I thought we'd moved on from...

It's not that this is unuseably bad, but it's a little misleading in their press materials. The "128 tracks" for example with the CPTK is only valid at 44.1/48khz, and each of those tracks are mono-only. The number is cut in half when you talk about stereo tracks.

When is Pro Tools 8 coming out exactly? They said it will come out in December! Its already December... I've ordered an Mbox 2 Pro just a couple days ago and I really want to try out the new MIDI settings on Pro Tools 8. I saw the videos on the digidesign website it look good. I hope the Midi editing feutere is good as the Reason 4 sequencer. 7.4 is a bit crap for Midi....

Like you,I am also waiting for PT8.

I tried to buy ver 7.4,but no-one has stock so no free upgrade for me.

I read on a USA website the other dat that it was released Dec 18,but don't hold your breath.

But,having said that,it would be great, imagine how much fun it would be over Christmas with a new DAW to learn, yippee.

I thought PT8 was out already. I seem to remember crossgrades being discussed on this forum weeks ago. I guess Digi might have come across a showstopper bug or two they want to iron out.

No. It as always scheduled for release in December. They just put the pricing out after AES.
