My bracket it's about a ton, but headphones have become a very important part of my set up so need a good pair. Noone has a bad word to say about the sennheiser's across the range, a lot of advice is in essence 'search senheiser, buy most expensive pair you can afford' and while I don't necessarily truck with that school of thought for as many people to say it as do it can't be groundless.
The only other contenders in that bracket are the bayers (with all their confusing ohms) and the m-audios, but I've not seen a review of them that isn't a sales pitch in disguise.
I didn't mate, i opted for the Beyerdynamic DT770 pro's after SOS had a headphones shootout and they came out on top for being the best all rounders. Of course it's all down to personal opinion but i took a chance and went with what they said and i'm happy i did on this occasion. I bought the 250ohm model and have been extremely happy with them, i would recommend them to anyone. I'm not sure what price they're going at now but i paid 130. I actually used them for mixing when i was saving for my Adams and they (in my opinion) were actually really good in that respect. There is no huge difference when i listen to my mixes through my Adams and then through my DT770's. I really mean that. The Beyer website stated that the 250 ohm model are better for monitoring the overall mix as opposed to the 80 ohm model.

edit: Here's the ones i bought. http://www.dv247.com/headphones/beye...250-ohm--36309

I didn't look at that high a price point, but it's only an extra 25 or so...will look into them a little.

Definitely worth a look mate. I don't think you would be disappointed. Is there anywhere you can try a pair out?

There isn't really, I gotta go to into London or Romford for anywhere to try anything (not just preference toward DV, there really is just nothing local).

Well if you do decide to buy them, i think you always have the option of sending them back with DV. 30 day money back guarantee, unless i'm mistaken. You should have a look for some reviews, they seem to be pretty highly regarded.
