Just to add further confusion.
The JBL LSR 2300 series get a very good review in SoS Nov 09.

Seems one of the few american speakers that have a "British" balance.

Dave.

Hi Everyone

First of all, many thanks for your posts. All help was gratefully received!

My problem has now been solved. I have purchased some speakers and, boy, do they sound good in my little office/studio.

I now have a pair of mint condition, second hand Dynaudio BM5As.

I bought them this weekend from Trev (TrevCircleStudios). I just wanted to say how easy Trev made it. I went to his studio on Saturday – which is something to behold in its own right! – and he let me listen to the speakers for as long as I wanted. Once home, they sound, well, put it this way, they make my old S3s are like clunky old clogs.

So now I can finally get down to writing some music again.

Big thanks to Trev, smashing guy, totally helpful and gave me a lot of his valuable time.

So on this occasion, sorry to DV, and thanks again to Chris in Bristol DV, but I’ll be back for more music gear soon.

Right now, how do you start up Logic again?

How are you finding the bottom end on these? I'm most likely going to be looking at a similar priced set of monitors (new price ) soon and I need to go for something that's going to allow me to hear layered much better than my RP6s do.

And now i'm just limited by my equipment.

if only that were true

More than one person has commented on the bottom end and i'm just not hearing it. Not the depth but the separation.

Bottom end is very good – varied in fact. When playing flat from Logic, bottom is perfect, but a number of tracks in iTunes sound weak. Have had to leave a permanent smile EQ on iTunes to sound good to my ears.

I have to say that I am very, very happy with them. Found all sorts of stuff (where stuff = crap) in my mixes that previously I’d thought were fine.

And the moral of this tale? All that monitoring chain stuff that Trev and Frank have been banging on about for all those years is absolutely true!

Heck, it's not often I'm wrong but dammit... I'm right again!

You're right! There is some stuff in the mids that I never knew was there!

So you weren't too impressed with Music Live, Trev?
