Get some nice chunky walnut bull-nose moulding strips made at your local wood yard and fix it on the front leading edge of what ever worktop you'll be applying to the top of the rack so that it covers at least the 1st 1/2U of space and that way the 15U strips won't look like they have an enormous gap at the bottom.

Quick question

Is this worthwhile and cost effective do you think? Basically I'm building a double width 4U height rack to sit on a desktop and i've seen these rack strips that come ready cut to length, so 4 x 4U strips is 5.11 inc each or 20.44 for the strip that I need.

Link OK? I didn't see any of this at the DV store.

Buy a single 19U strip for 6.61 and cut it into 4x4U strips (the extra 3x 1U are the gaps between the 4U strips so that you can cut fairly neat ends). Don't forget, you won't really be able to see the ends anyway, so you only need to be reasonably neat when cutting your strips.

Oh, and also don't forget, when cutrting rack strip, you always cut between the two holes that are closer together when look at them.

Aha ok thanks, obvious really. I was just being lazy

I seem to remember from looking before that I only found 2M strips for 20 or so.

I've got a flatbed tile cutter with a diamond wheel on it that whizzes through metal nice and clean

Buy a cheap one becuase I can smell it straining the motor. Still, it's lasted me two years so far and was only 25 or so!

Yeah, I've already got a cheap one from when I tiled my kitchen. Can't believe I wasn't gung-ho enough to have thought of it before!

It was a small step for me.

I'm relatively famous around these parts for knocking tiles off a roof by using a sledgehammer in a basement.

And I still wonder how I ended up with a slipped disc.
