There is an SOS review on them here http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/nov0...les/rodem3.htm
Rode versions of C1000s by the looks of it. They still seem to think that the C1000s are better, but its just a review. Always better to make your own mind up with your own ears I always thought (that could get ugly tho eh!).

I used to have an EV vocal mic, it was quite expensive I seem to remember. I bought it off a mate back in the early 90s (it turned out that despite the long blonde superstar hair, singing was most definitely not for him ), and quite by accident, I found it was just brilliant inside the kick drum. Alas I lost it at a gig one night, can't even remember what model it was.

I wonder if any of you guys ever just used whatever mics you could get your hands on & found that one did an unexpectedly good job?

To be fair tho, I read a review that panned the AKG solidtube. I Bloody loved that mic! I just put my grandma on ebay to hopefully get a few quid towards another one..

Gotta be better than it is on Terry Wogan!
The one I had tho was a black stage mic, looked a little like a N/D967 but with a longer cap. I wish I knew which one it was.
