Default Adam A5 vs Yamaha HS80M monitors

Hello

I need some nearfield active monitors - recording mainly acoustic guitar but some standard guitar band music. Any thoughts as to whether the Adam A5 or Yamaha HS80M monitors would be better. It is for a home studio (room size 10 foot by 14 foot but the monitors will sit within 6 inches of the wall on a desk.

Many thanks for your help

Best wishes

Justin

This thread might help. Adams were discussed in that thread.

Haven't used the Adam A5 monitors, but would really recommend the Yamahas which, for half the price, aren't far off the Genelec pair we now use in the studio. The sound is a touch shouty, but the bass extension is good and they're definitely up to the job for some serious mixing.

Hope that helps!

Adam a7, they're fantastic and front ported, ribbon tweeter and they go down pretty low and stay tight, I only sold mine when I upgraded to focal twins with my NS10's

if I was after another pair of speakers in that price bracket I'd buy them without a second thought, I"m in no way associatoed with adam either.

I have used to yamaha hs50's in a small studio near to where I live and they had that "known" yamaha sound about them but in a more modern, non ns10 way, no real bottom end though, not tried the msp5's but I know someone who works comercially who uses them with a sub on a daily basis and he's no mug.

Personally can only recommend the ADAm A7's out of that lot as they're the only ones I have personal experience with.

Good luck.
