Goldbaby Fatso Synths Volume 1
Not sure if you're all au fait with Goldbaby or not, but they've been mentioned on here a few times (mainly by myself!), so I'll give you an overview. Goldbaby are basically a one-man show based in New Zealand. They're run by a gear fanatic sound designer called Hugo, who has a rather extensive collection of old gear which he's painstakingly used to produce various sample packs. He started by recording his drum machines to tape, then went on to put them on vinyl, and produce a great range of drum machine samples that just sound superb. Recently, he's turned his hand to producing Kontakt and EXS24 synth patches using his old synths, namely an SH101 to start with, and now he's just produced the above. Fatso Synths is the The Moog MG-1, Korg Delta, Roland JX3P, Ensoniq ESQ1 and the Yamaha DX100, all processed through a UBK Fatso and I have to say - they sound absolutely superb. Much like Audio Damage, the price of these samples is great, ranging from $24 US to $49 US (about £30 for a great set of samples). They're warm, tight, punchy and most of all - fit perfectly into a mix with little processing. If you're into this kind of thing, I wholeheartedly recommend them. Just listen to the demos for examples. I've personally bought pretty much everything he's produced so far! |
