Default Cakewalk by Roland Virtual Studio VS News

From Cakewalk by Roland (Edirol):

For the very first time we will be unveiling the latest addition to the innovative new Virtual Studio line of hardware controllers. The flagship VS-700 was undoubtedly one of the biggest products of 2008, lifting hardware and software integration to new levels of sophistication. And now 2009 sees the introduction of a more universal stable mate.

Seems like a smaller version of the VS-700 is coming...

Default Logic Studio 9 and Steinberg News

Although we are hearing Logic 9 rumours, I've just spoken to Apple and they are not exhibiting at Musikmesse 2009.

However, Steinberg might have something new to show...

Apple has said before that they're pretty much "not doing trade shows" anymore. But we may well get a Logic 9 announcement from them concurrently anyway to take advantage of the media coverage. Same is rumoured for NAB - they're not exhibiting but the word on the street is that Final Cut Studio 3 will be announced around then anyway.

Other things I've heard so far in addition to some of what's already been mentioned:

- Cakewalk DAW controller that works with ANY DAW, not just Sonar
- Heard one rumour of new SSL products - X-Rack modules, possibly new Duende plugs, maybe even larger-format stuff? This is unsubstantiated, though.

... more as and if I hear it ...

Let's hope so because virtually everyone on the Cakewalk site has said the VS-700 is a no go.

A trimmed version is a big thumbs though - if one appears.
