My source on this rumour says though that this will be a product which will require an existing MC controller - ie an add-on to the existing stuff, not something that can be used by itself, so you'll still need to buy an MC Mix or Control (unsure if one or the other or both that will be needed!)

Just a rumour yet though, and I for one would love to see that proven wrong and get a nice standalone budget controller for under £500.

Default New UAD plug-ins...

Here's a mindf*ck -

A couple new SSL emulations, but from Universal Audio for the UAD platform...

(not authorised by SSL, mind you!)

Cue the Duende vs Waves vs UAD vs hardware shoot-outs...

Cool SSL X-Desk

£1675 RRP (that may be ex-VAT)

I am VERY interested in this. It's all-analogue, too, btw.

that ssl mixer looks the dogs nuts and if thats the final price most stores will be selling slightly cheaper than the rrp ..dv247 will sell loads of these.i wonder if you can daisy chain a few of these together to create a bigger desk?if you could that,d be amazing and easily one of the best new products of 2009.

i think a few people will be selling there souls to buy those..with them allowing daisy chaining that means youll get a 24 track ssl desk for less than 5 grand !! thats unbelieveable.

i used ssl desks years ago and they give your tracks a special something cant wait to check these out wish id gone to the festival now i hope i can go next year .

I suspect that these are meant to be used with the X-Rack stuff, though - you'll note that this is basically a line mixer by the looks of things - no EQ or Dynamics but sends on every channel. Since a good chunk of the SSL mojo comes from the processing in that sense, it would be good to pair this with an X-Rack and slowly build a collection of modules that would turn this into a killer little project studio solution.

That said, it's not going to be un-useful on it's own either, obviously!

Actually it may end up being a very nice summing mixer if nothing else, if you don't want to add-on the hardware. This setup + even only the bus compressor in hardware should = wow.

There's also no reason to believe that it will ONLY work with X-Rack stuff, I'm sure it will integrate very happily with other hardware as well...
