It's good to see Ableton taking more time to iron things out. Their patch releases usually stop at .10,...12 is new territory I think. Live 7 should be a very reliable app now. I have never really had any issues with it in the past but their support forums do have their fair share of issues like any other host.

Live 8 could be quite a big product release. They have been cooking it for some time now. Longer than usual.

x64 native hopefully this time.

The only headache I get with it on the stabiulity front is sometimes when I start it up it just dies or grinds to a halt, but a machine reboot fixes that.

Otherwise the most annoying issue I have had (and actually really really annoying for me) is unreliable midi sync to external hardware, though thats supposed to be fixed in 7.0.12 at long last.

Well, it is quite off for this patch to come out..

Live 8 is due just after Xmas. I'm saving my pennies until then, justincase they have created a monster and don't offer an upgrade..

Lets see if they've listened to anyone here, as Modz said they were reading !

They might create a new product category like the Live Suite was recently. I think I have heard of new product versions not having upgrade paths but it is rare. Very.

Not impossible though. But I suspect the Cycling 74 partnership might have some impact finally on Live this time. Hopefully anyway.

Hmm - I wasnt entirely impressed at finding out that upgrading from Live 6 to live suites 7 *didnt* include an EIC license even though EIC is in the Live suite.

That is strange. So you have to buy the EIC 2 separately...even if you upgrade to the Live Suite?

Yes, or you have to have had EIC1 before hand.

In an even more stupid irony, my girlfriend bought the standard Live 7 shortly afterwards an that included EIC2 for free

Really odd. It looks like Ableton need a serious review of their product upgrade structure...hopefully before v.8 arrives.
