Default AES 2008: New Studio Gear, Rumours and Expectations

The AES 125th Convention starts tomorrow.

There are major announcements due at AES 2008 which we cannot publish on DV247 until we are allowed

We have signed Non Disclosure Agreements with the manufacturers.

However, I will do my best to publish in real-time as the news becomes official.

There may even be a few product launches that we've not been given upfront information on so if you spot anything, please add to this thread (preferably linking to manufacturer's website only) and I'll endeavour to get accurate UK pricing and shipping dates.

All AES gear rumours (although there are some already on this forum: Pro Tools 8.0, Cakewalk and Roland Hardware) and your AES expectations are also welcome on this thread.

All I know is that there will be a lot to talk about in the next few days.

TL Audio to Launch New Console at AES!

From TL Audio:

This years October AES convention in San Francisco will see TL Audio launching a brand new version of their popular M1 Tube tracker console. The new M1-F features the same high quality tube preamps and beautifully smooth and musical EQ as the original but has some great additions too. The master section has been improved now featuring a mono button for use when mixing and also balanced insert points for mixdown, summing and mastering. The most exciting new feature of this console though will be its ability to be fitted with TL Audio’s latest, newly designed, digital interface – the DO-F card. The addition of the DO-F card will enable all channel inputs and outputs and main outs to be accessed via a single Firewire cable connected to your computer without the need for an additional interface or soundcard. The connection works up to 24bit / 96kHz and uses high quality converters to maintain optimum quality sound throughout your recording process. The M1-F is available in 8 and 12 channel configurations, is modular and is hand built in England

They don't really cater for the big boy market so its a pretty safe bet it's aimed at the hobbyist.

Interesting - how do you rate the 32.8.2?

I keep thinking about ditching my 01x+i88x and replacing with a mackie analog and a MOTU core system with 24 i/o box and a 2408 box. I rather like that it is a proper recording mixer rather than the usual live sound format mixers.

The other option that I keept mulling over is staying digital in the form of a tascam DM3200.

Either way - I need more channels and aux busses than I currently have and rather miss real consoles.
