Thumbs up Introducing Sonar 8 (Full details)

SONAR 8 Overview

You can find out what's new in more detail here...

Initial highlights for me...

Beatscape

Looks great. On paper this could be much better than Cyclone. Looks to be very powerful tool.

Channel Tools

This is a very welcome addition IMO. Sonar badly needed a plug like this.

Transient Shaper

I can think of many applications for this. Samplitude 8 had something similiar.

Initiall impressions are very good...

Dear DV, here's my Xmas wishlist. I want to buy the Sonar Pro Suite Bundle with a free upgrade to Sonar 8. I've been good all year as well.

Yes indeed and here Cakewalk talk about their new offering

There is a nice Sonicstate Sonar 8 Video here that demonstrates some of the new features.

Awesome. I don't understand why more people don't use Sonar. I can only assume it's down to luddites and their established standards and whatever, because Sonar pisses all over Cubase and Protools imo.

I see DV's upgrade price from V7 is 151.01 (approx) while that on Cakewalk's website is 149.99.

Do we think this upgrade is good value for money? Bearing in mind that the upgrade from Dimension LE to Dimension Pro is 141.00 alone, I think the upgrades is a must have for any existing users.

I'd say it ranks fairly high on Dave's Scale Of Win. Besides Dimension Pro, you also get Guitar Rig 3 LE, which even in its limited form, would **** all over the Amp Sim included in days gone by. Natch, this'll be less useful if you already own Guitar Rig 3, but it'll be awesome if you don't, or if you're just lazy like me and don't like installing so many extra packages after reinstalling your OS.

I just saw that the price for Cakewalk Sonar 7 Producer Edition on the DV mainsite has dropped to 99 as a result of this new version. This fits my budget so much better.

Well spotted Krykos.

Digital Village has secured an exclusive end of line deal on Sonar 7 Producer full retail version to sell at 99 inc.vat

Unfortunately, Cakewalk will only offer free upgrades to Sonar 8 Producer to those users who purchased in September and this deal only went live today. :(

However, we do expect these to fly off the shelves as it is an incredible DAW deal for those who are tempted to explore Sonar Producer without breaking the bank!

You can always update to Sonar 8 at a future point for just over 100

Or for anyone interested in Sonar 8 Producer (UK MSRP 349) they could get both Sonar 7 Producer and the upgrade at the same time and save nearly 150

The Sonar 8 Producer upgrades will officially start shipping tomorrow.
