I wasnt really intending for this to turn out the way it did - just happened - so I'm not quite sure what genre bucket to stick it in - kind of epic/anthem trance meets electro with a rock influence I guess - ((maybe good for outdoor dance music festivals etc?) - so labelled it 'Progressive House' as a catch all for when you havn't a clue
![]() Mix is still in progress (definately needs some more work on overall frequency balance - funny it sounded fine until I listened to the mp3 - grrr!). As ever, comments abuse etc welcome - enjoy ![]() |

Nice tune K!
Likin' the 'wow and flutter' programming on one of the synths, it gives quite an individuality to the the otherwise normal side chained cliche.. The half time tempo section for me could've been later on in the arrangement as a special feature.. at the beginning, though still good, I feel it would have more 'impact' later on in the track and for building towards that lovely crescendo ![]() Musically, it's sound as a pound and would make a very good 'prog house' track for the likes of Dave Seamen, Pappa, Zabilia etc.. Please do see this to a finished version ______________________________

Thanks for the comments and feedback
The 'wow and flutter' was an accidental discovery - I resampled the delay/verb tail on the very end and was going to use it as a simple leader noise reversed at the start, then discovered that nice flutter in it when I mixed it in so it just had to be used ![]() Completely agree on changing the arrangement to push the half time section back and give a more of flavour of the more dancey bits earlier on maybe too. I must admit I've been quite lazy of late (lack of available time due to day job) - using perc loops way more than I should, but this time around when back to playing/programming everything and much happier with the result than I have been for a while. Thanks again - a great help as ever! ![]() Waxxy - cheers mate - now you mention them - yes I see what you mean. Its been a very long time since I've listened to their music ![]() |

dont worry about using perc loops or drum loop samples..theres not many records out now that doesnt use them..alot of the big acts now use mutekki sample cds(which are easily the best dance sample cds out )and all the big hiphop producers very rarely make beats from scratch now most chop up sample cds.
i know there used to be a stigma concerning using sample cds but thats all changing now once sample cds were terrible ,nothing worth having on them except maybe one or two loops and the recordings on some of the early loopmaster cds were terrible but now there brillliant well produced well engineered tools . why spend 2 hours trying to recreate a perc loop that youve heard on a cd when you can spend a few pounds and get it perfectlly recorded and perfectlly equed too ![]() i use sample cds but what i always do is mess them up with fx and combine them with other loops so they dont sound anything like the orginal were i started from.so keep your prec loops in mate they sound great and dont feel you have to program them yourself as long as the track needs it keep it in |

I don't worry about using perc loops especially as the ones I have seem to be very good (even if they are also all over just about every dance track out there recently), however in using them I often find I loose something thinking back.
Yes - they sound great when used as intended, or very heavily chopped and mangled, but subtle tweaking of them to get exactly the variations I want in certain parts often ends up as a bit of a compromise that Im not allways quite happy with - and Ive ended spending hours hacking some loops instead of just getting loops I want from scratch ![]() They are however great for throwing toggether ideas etc |

Nice mix that.
I actually agree that loops aren't always the best way to go. I've found lately that whenever I use them there's just too much going on and there's too much temptation to add more percussion as it's so easy. I think track suffers from that just slightly, there's plenty of rhythmic interest going on in the synth parts for the percussion to be there just as a framework. Very nicely mixed as usual though and i'd love to see more filter action going on |

Nice tune. Not my usual sort of thing but it has a good musicality to it. I especially like the builds and there are some very well chosen sounds in there.
The mix is excellent too. Neil. ______________________________
