The start of the band's EP!

Not finished yet, just using the guitar tracks as guides for doing the drums (which will probably need redoing) and there's no bass guitar yet - that also fills in the quiet gap towards the end!

Let me know what you think, it's supposed to be the short intro for the band's EP

I'm not setting out to be critical, but you have a couple of rudimentary problems... something is distorting (and not the nice crunchy guitar type distortion) and to me it sounds like it's the kick drum. You also seem to have way too much sub bass energy going on, roll off the bass on all drum mics bar the kick drum to avoid recording "mic rumble" that will do nothing other than suck all the dynamics out of the mix. But I think you have the bass frequencies up way too much overall... all that should really be occupying the bass end is bass instruments.

Cool guitar sound though!!

Really liking the actual tune and what not of this. There are a few things in the production side of things that need changing, but it sounds like your still working on it at the moment?

Like Dave said - that kick in the build up is distorting REAL badly. The snare could do with turning up quite a bit too.

Looking forward to giving it a listen when it's finished.

Yeh I think that's my main problem, referring to my other thread, is getting the right kick drum sound.

Well I've done a few updates, added a bass track, and redone the drums. However I put some new skins on the drums and have changed the mic placements since this recording so will need to do them again.

I'm still getting some distortion in the build up. It's hard to tell where it's coming from but it sounds like it's coming from the guitar..? The crash is also very loud from listening..

The main bit is sounding better, but there's a tom really standing out with a drone which is making it a bit hard to listen to. I'm rubbish with drums so i don't know if that's a mic placement issue or if the tom itself could do with being tuned/tightened?

But yeah, still liking it man - it's a great intro for an EP.
