Default A track from last weekend

Spent last Sunday working on a track written by Ben Appleton (http://www.myspace.com/bgcarey) in which he sang a duet with Laura Warwick that I've been working with. Ben had a guitar loop, a beat and a tambourine loop prepared to form the basis of the track, and so as we worked on it I added a bass part played on my Korg M3, a twinkly KARMA based sound for the verses also from my M3, another beat that comes in on the choruses and also a quick fill in the middle 8 played on my V-Drums kit. Since Ben was aiming for a pop/dance kind of feel, we'd appreciate comments on this one.

Also, would like to say thanks to Trev for previously suggesting I set up the mic and SE Reflexion with the singer oriented with their back to the corner of the room, this has helped further reduce room colouration on recorded vocals.

Hi Dave
You mentioned you're after a Pop/Dance feel on this.. In response to that comment, I feel the rhythm track here is a little erratic and laid back and for a contemporary track of that ilk would need to be more prominent and 'solid' (if that makes sense?).

It's got a real catchy chorus, especially as the energy levels pick up nicely, though the male vocal does seem to leap out a little bit (and Laura's quite low in response parts) -maybe a general balance of the whole vocals could be a revision?

Liking the acoustic guitar loop - how 'bout keeping the essence of that but maybe punctuating it a bit more by very careful audio file editing (removing parts on a minuscule basis to illustrate the rhythm and delivery)?

This track is definitely a 'see to end' project - you have something potentially commercially viable here

Thanks Modz... I'm in agreement with you on the technical points, and appreciate the feedback on the genre-specific pointers. I'll pass the info on to Ben and suggest developing the track further.
