Default General Production

Right.. Because i'm trying to work on my production skills, the plan is to create lots of 'small' tunes rather than working on 5min+ tracks at a time. That way, i reckon it'll be more beneficial as i'll be going through the 'stages' faster and hopefully will get better.. faster.. Here is number 1.
I'm open for as much criticism as you can throw at me. Cheers,

OMG i F'in love this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
its not quite a track but more like the theme tune tune IABP tv series
seriously though i love every aspect of this, think the percussive bit at the end could do with being lower in the mix but other than that i think this is great really moving stuff for me!

where on earth did you get the vocal from?

Thanks man Glad you like it.

Oddly enough, i have you to thank for the vocal by reminding me of the joy that is archive.org. It was cut from an hour or so long rant from an angry preacher, badly recorded though so i had to work on it to clean it up.

It only took me a day or two so i'm going to keep working on short tunes like this, hopefully building my techniques up as i go along. That's the plan anyway.

Just what do those chords remind me of..? Damn..

Anyway, I quite like this but there is room for improvement in the content.. I reckon you need a sidestep departure from the main 3 chords Tif.. an alternate chord movement to take the ear away from that main theme.. As it is, the track is too momotonous and gives the impression of meandering..

Once that's done, it's pretty much ready and heading for a chill out compilation or TV / movie scene piece.. nice

You hit the nail on the head mate. I tried doing this at the start of the piece but couldn't find any progression to take it to how i wanted, so left it. Then near the end i felt the same so tried once more, but failed again

The structure is pretty much all over the place too, but with it being the style it is, i don't think that matters too much.

What do you think about the piano? I took a while trying to programme it to sound realistic (Using Logics own here ) and that's the best i could get to, but i still reckon it's sounding a bit dodgy in some places.

Anyways, thanks for the listen man - much appreciated.
Will hopefully have another version uploaded soon.

or

very much like one of my fav trance tunes, 'System F - Cry'

Nice track.

The piano part could use a slight amount of high passing I think (on headphones at least) and maybe experiment with some 2nd or 4th note triplet delay. Keep the mix level low on the delay though. A tiny amount of mid room reverb on the piano would add a nice bit of ambience too.

Listening again, the Cello part is screaming for some reverb too. I'm a sucker for a bit of 'verb on raspy low strings
