Default What ya think?

It's just a start at the moment, tbh I'm stuck and I don't really know what more I can do..

Can anyone help me out please? What do you think it lacks or needs adding?

Dan

Don't want to sound glib or unnecessarily obvious, but what I think it seriously needs is some sort of melody... whether that be one or two motifs that you weave in and out to match the existing evolving layered approach or as a more conventional lead instrument playing a solo melody.

its really good for a intro just when you think its gona kick it chemical brothers style it ends but for a start i think its really good especially the use of the layer cake sample ..make it longer and id kick it with harder drums just as your layer cake sample comes in at the end.and like dave said think of a melody or a sound too cut threw the ambience to take it up a level.and one the breakdowns a piano with quite a bit of reverb and delay would go well with the chords youve got at the beginning ..hope this helps ..post back as you add more too it and keep it up bud

Thanks for the opinions guys. Feel like crap at the moment with the flu so think it's gonna be a few days before I'll be able to do anymore work on the song.

Took your opinions onboard, I've done a little more work on it today, added some more to the bassline and also added a simple melody. Next I'll add some sort of piano or something to made the chords stand out better.

Cheers

i think you should work on the mix, thicken it up and may be extend it, i think you should keep this version as again a "reprise" type edit, i really really really liked this very ambient chilled and cool, i was going to say add "welcome to the layer cake" lib a bit more but then it came in so just really need to make it louder but keep its tranquility. one point though i feel the drums dont quite line up??? may want to look into that? the 2nd kick sound i believe
