Hi everyone,
I just got my new pa amoplifer, its a 2 channel 1500 WRMS amp, and after hooking it all up to my mixer/speakers and powering up, I noticed that one of the channels clips before the other one does. Both levels are set in the middle to, any idea why this is? Is it ok to just turn the lower one up until they are both clipping, and then reduce the volume so it doesnt clip? Or should I get it fixed or return it to the shop? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Sam. |

Either the two channels have different gains (unlikely) or the clip/metering is poorly calibrated.
You need to feed it a mono 1kHz tone and measure the output. I have no experience with modern high power PA's (what IS it BTW!?) but I would have thought that the op's would be within 1dB of each other with the main input at max. Only the accompanying specification can tell you what to expect and if it doesn't. ASK THEM! Dave. |
