Just got back from seeing this at the IMAX in Waterloo.
Wow. Wow wow wow. Say what you will about the excessive length and the other criticisms levelled against it, the IMAX experience is unbelievable. This changes movies forever, it completely reinvents what's possible. (For those that don't know, several entire sequences and many establishing shots were shot with actual IMAX cameras, this is the first "proper" feature to do that. They cut between full-frame 70mm IMAX stuff and the super-35 which has been DMR'd to IMAX resolution, albeit letterboxed). When the aspect ratio switches to full-frame IMAX you know you're in for a crazy ride. It was slightly disappointing sometimes when it cut back to the 35mm originated stuff. They could do another film like this ENTIRELY in IMAX and it would be completely, eminently watchable. I'm all for nature & science documentaries, but man oh man. This was so immersive. Not to mention the 10k+ watt surround sound system. Absolutely brilliant sound design/mix too. The score was just fine - not Zimmer's or JNH's best, IMHO, but it worked and sounded great. Do yourself a favour if you get a chance, see the IMAX version of this, it's a feast for the senses! I never want to watch a "proper" 35mm film again! ![]() |

Thanks T3. I like IMAX and I think I'll have to check this out myself. The movie gets an unprecedented 9.3/10 rating at imdb.com
The Dark Knight (2008) The IMAX release has been a record breaking success so I would think this bodes well for a future Warner Bros feature film to be shot entirely with IMAX cameras in the not too distant future. |

I wanted to see The Dark Knight at IMax but settled for Chelmsford Odeon. I loved this film!!
The cinematography in it was awesome as was the music! Ledger was incredible as the Joker, for me it was all about the details he put in. The way he walked and kind of skipped out of the hospital, the way he kept licking his lips and all the other little details that convinced you that the Joker was completely insane! My favourite bit being when he was in hanging out of the window of the police car.. pure class! Batman fact of the day : The club shot was was filmed in The Ministry of Sound in London. I recognised the instant the shot started. Proof here ______________________________

I loved the fact that when the Joker came out of the hospital that was all one take... don't wanna spoil the scene for anyone who hasn't seen it, but when you think about it that's pretty impressive!
Anyway, ndk, do find a way to see the IMAX version!!! Totally worth the experience, I'm sure even if you've already seen the film!! |

I saw the The Matrix Reloaded at the IMax and it was incredible. Was for free as well, as it was part of some Adobe seminar i went to.
And yes that hospital scene is ace! ______________________________
