Default Opportunistic photography

Given there's a few photographers on here I thought I'd share a couple of images I've snapped this evening. I took advantage of the fantastic glow the streetlights and the moon give off through the mist that has decending around here this evening.

It was a 10 second exposure with the camera on a tripod using a remote shutter release. During those 10 seconds the car travelled across the field of view... et voilą!

The car itself wasn't bright enough to actually be captured (just like the spoke on a spinning bicycle wheel) in the image, but the headlights were and so that's why the headlight trail was captured. The rest of the picture took the whole 10 seconds to feed enough light in to appear within the image... that's why the picture had to be taken on a tripod using a remote shutter release.

I thought the same thing. Strange that it captures the light but leaves the car/road as a 'singular' kind of shot.

Cool pic though man, and oddly enough just the right time to post something like this I've been after a camera for some time and already been reading up on the past threads. I've just been offered;

canon 400d

2 lenses 1) 18-55mm zoom
2) 55-200mm telephoto lens

natural density filter

an 8gb memory card

All for £300. I've been told that's pretty good and from what i've seen, it's a decent deal. Any thoughts?

yep... that's a good deal. Do you know what brand the 55-200mm lens is? (the 18-55mm will most likely be the stock Canon lens that comes with the camera)

Thanks Modz! I am rather pleased with the composition of #2 as that is exactly how I framed the shot, its not a crop... in fact the only processing done at all is to resize it.

#1 has been cropped and resized, otherwise, no processing done on that one either.
