cheers guys, been having trouble with it for about a month, couldnt figure out what it was, intermitant noise etc. fdisk and reinstalls of protools wouldnt work so after asking a couple of buddies we narrowed it down the preamps and as the channels arent seperate it spread , not worth getting repaired really but the warrenty was up 2 wks ago, anyhow, ive been looking at a motu mk3 interface, about 300 and maybe cubase 5 or logic, although i really like protools, just bought guitar rig 3 last week too !! , with all the changes happening with windows 7 on the rise i might just sit tight and see how things develop over the next few months as id like to get a dedicated machine for my hobby and the i7 processor looks more than a match for any of the mac stuff??

If its only 2 weeks out of warranty, then the manufacturer should still play nice and fix it for free.

Legally, they are obliged....as are the retailer under the consumer trading/rights act. It basically states that a product should be expected to function normally for a period much longer then the warranty....therefore, if a fault develops...it is upto the retailer and/or manufacturer to correct the situation.

It's around about 5-6 years - within reason

Obviously you're pushing it a bit with most items

Warranties are not worth a bean because you're covered anyway!?!?

well, yesterday i had a good chat with the folks at maudio and the retailer who isnt digi but a rival store, i bought it in july last year, when it arrived the software disc was broken so it took them another 3 weeks to get me one so i registered it on aug 1 and the warrenty is up on 30 aug but because i purchased it mid july they (the retailer) told be theres nothing they can do about it, end off story basicaly. i was a bit gutted but to me this just means they dont care about their customers, neither retailer or manufacturer. so ill use neither again.

Yeah, I do vote with my feet.
I'm in a prolonged battle over my monitors - or one to be exact.
I'm not emotionally attached to them as they are objects so it's not a problem to pursue it. I don't know a supplier who cares, to be honest. You're one person in thousands. It's a job to them and not a relationship.
Some firms do a better 'job' than others. It's one reason I use DV.

i hear ya, digi are great tbh, so are a few guitar stores ive used in the uk but voting with my feet is where im at right now, it didnt even dawn on them that id be wanting to replace my gear or upgrade or buy other items or my past buying habits with them, it was just black and white we have your money you have your sh**E , no customer rapore or empathy what so ever.
so when im ready to get my new home rig ill be buying most of it from digi as i bought my original protoolsmpowered from them last august anyway.
have my eye on a new machine though to form the foundation of my setup, the rest is just a new interface and daw, probably a motu or tascam with either protools le, logic or reaper
