Default New iPhone and, a question..

Supposedly...

http://blog.wired.com/gadgets/2009/0...-photos-i.html

Comment: I've been a devoted Mac user for years, had towers, laptops, iPods, used many flagship apps. and of course Logic for years.. Actually just wondering why I haven't rushed out and bought an iPhone yet? A few close friends have them and are enamored.. am I missing something?

I'm the same Modz.

I do like them, Apple are again way ahead of anything out there in terms of software. I have the Nokia N96 at the moment and it's complete and utter crap. It's really slow - has about a 5-10 second delay on pretty much everything you do. It crashes, restarts randomly and the music player sometimes starts to mess up which throws digital distortion in my ears at twice the volume (That's the most annoying thing about it!) Sometimes it even stops me from making calls, and crashes when i'm on the phone so to hang up i have to take the battery out. But enough of the anti-Nokia campaign..

I'm just waiting for the iPhone to become less of a fashion icon i think, most of the iPhone owners i know carry them around in their hands rather than their pockets.

I'm an Apple fan... maybe not a fanatic, but I like their stuff.

I will not pay £35 a month for any phone, even an iPhone, it's as simple as that. That's an absurd amount of money.

It's £420 a year that could be spent on gear, as far as I'm concerned....

its because you all spend your money on booze
get one they are great, i got mobile me too so when i switch the main mac on or the lap top it wirelessly syncs all new contacts, calenders etc.

they are also great for email, they have imo the best touch screen on any touch screen phone and you become instantly popular and fashionable.. well im still waiting for the last bit to happen but iv phoned apple support every 15min or so and they say it will happen and to give it time

It's like living in one long Apple advert

That's the stark reality...I have yet to purchase an Apple product...but saving up for the first is quite a task indeed!

Im anti Touch screen.

They require more power, are slow to text on and take up the whole of my pocket. They are heavy as well.

I'm not sold. Its causing a major headache. There was nothing wrong with button phones, but all the hadset makers are hell bent on following apple's lead.

That's pretty much along the lines of my feelings, but specifically in one respect. Touch-screens make sh*t keyboards. I bought myself a touchscreen remote for my AV gear and I'm getting to the point where I'm hating it. Touchscreens are great for the coverflow type app, but for pushing buttons they are awful for one fatal reason... you have to look at it to type on it as there's no tactile feedback that you are "on" a key or that you've successfully pushed it.

So, touchscreens for coverflow type "manipulative" functions, real buttons (though ideally, OLED embedded buttons ) for functional things like typing.
