Interesting read in this weekend's 'Culture' mag about the three Sheffield electro-pop originators, Human League, Heaven 17 and Martin Fry of ABC - They are reuniting for a series of gigs called 'Steel City Tour' later this year Full Article Here
a small quote....distressed by the luddite conventions of Arctic Monkeys and their ilk, and inspired by the futurist spirit of the early League. Bands such as Pygmy Globetrotters, Darlings of the Splitscreen, Hiem and Kings Have Long Arms are using junk-shop keyboards and cheap laptops to offer a digital update of budget analogue pop... I checked out some of the output of the new bands mentioned and gotta say, I'm impressed with two in particular, Hiem and Kings Have Long Arms - Why not check them out on iTunes over a coffee? ______________________________
