I've no idea about it as a synth but if someone was looking for at it then €70 isn't bad as it's a mind-boggling €199 on the NI site, although it is cheaper at other places. It's very sea-green looking.

Uppppppppppppdddattee !

Favourite Toys this month folks:

Record For Reason Owners:
You have to be mad not to get this. The mix engine sounds excellent, you get Reason 4 included and it's a steal for £99 at the moment. My advice would be still to look for an older and cheap version of Reason (WITH THE REGISTRATION CARD) and go that way. It'd still be cheaper then buying both apps as a package of two new licenses.

Logic9
Bugs aside, I like this simply because it solved the issues of Logic's old skool handing of Audio Files. Everything can now be done on the fly in a non destructive way. Plus the new distortion box plugin is lovely. Colourful, easy to use and has some interesting effects.

MicroKorg
Annoyingly small keys aside, this is a rather capable synthesizer. More waveforms then you could probably care for and editing is easy with practise (but keep the manual handy anyway). I don't think it can be rivalled for the money. Even most 3rd party soft synths won't touch it..

Focusrite LiquidMix
Small, light, easy to use and fun. It's nice to have a controller for eq and compression that isn't based around MIDI. You turn the knob each time and know that what it is going to do. They also sound pretty nice as well. I'll probably never hear most of the kit it emulates, but regardless of how good an emulation it is...the results of the Liquid Mix are pleasant and noticable.

Missing out is my JoeMeek 1Q... I've not had chance to try it out enough yet.

Record

I bought Reason 2 and upgraded 3,4 loved them all and was really interested in Record until i seen the dongle , i know you don't need the dongle in all the time and you can use the net to register or demo mode.. but the plain fact is it comes with a dongle and that has killed it for me i have Ilok & syncrosoft i want no more.
So Record is no go for me im afraid.

Softube CL1B

I bought Powercore Tube-tech CL1B sometime ago for a huge rip-off price , i was gutted when Softube last week released a Native version id prefer a native version and not be tied to the Poco , however im wasn't going to pay $411 for a plugin ive already got.
So on the Native CL1B thread over at Gearsluts i hinted i wanted to sell my Powercore version , within 20 minutes and a series of PM's i had the CL1B license sold and the money safe in my paypal account , i instantly used the money to buy the Native version ...I sold the Poco version for $285 (bargain for him) and bought Native version for $285 so it was a straight swap really ....Now im not tied to the Poco and can run as many instances as my 8 core Mac will let me
...ive got a taste for this poco plugin selling now so may sell my Virus poco.

Arturia

I bought "V" collection sometime ago and Wow Great new free upgrades it seems the CS-80V version 2 upgrade is getting most press and great it is , however its the Modular 2.5 upgrade im enjoyed most the GUI just seems more solid and it just sounds much better than the earlier version , i was flicking through some Presets whilst gazing at my hardware little phatty and thinking this plugin kicks phattys little arse and its a free upgrade

So congratualtion for the free version upgrades from Arturia , unlike Native Instruments to which i bought "Komplete synths" and get "No" free version upgrades Nor any upgrade path BOOOOOOOO NI

The Virus plugin or the Poco itself? I have seen the TDM/Protools version of the Virus which is the same and thought it was good...

No just the virus plugin i may sell , My powercore Firewire is not really worth selling because of what id get for it compared to what i payed for it , so its worth holding onto as i really like the Classic verb & Noveltech Character plugins.
