i saw this tutorial on another forum and thought it was a great idea to let peeps who are not yet in the know on how to do this, know
i have re phrased it so that it doesn't apply to on piece of software and added bits o feel relevant.what's needed: editing software: soundforge, wavelab or Peak pro (others available but only listed the main 1's) 2 identical digital uncompressed copies of the track you want (1 without vocals) patience ![]() ok so the idea is to use the instrumental to extract the vocal from the full version track. we do this by inverting the phase from 1 of the tracks (the instrumental in this case) and layering it over the top of the full version. the invert function is normally found in the functions section in the audio menu or equivalent. it really is that simple but what you must be aware of is that both tracks must start EXACTLY at the same point (use your zoom 44,100 sample rate and edit function to do this). if you do not get it right it will be obvious and then it can work very well at times, however this is not a promise as some tracks can be out a sample or so and effect it. also once done the tracks may have leaks of other sounds as who ever made it may of used Analog gear and used a hardware phaser, the LFO cycle may be occurring differently on each track due to the manual start and stop of the sequencer. Finally inverting the phase of a wave form is basically flipping it on its horizontal axis so there for if placed over an untouched waveform it will cancel everything other than the vocal waveform, hense leaving just the vocals. this is in an ideal world ![]() well i hope this is of some use |

hah I've tried this many times, in an ideal world it sounds like it'd be amazing but it never seems to work out quite as well as planned, still you get semi-usable results. Could just be me though, other people have got some pretty great results
If anyone's looking for acapellas Acapellas4U - download free acapella, acapellas & dj tools have a pretty great user sustained collection. You have to be a member for like a month before they let you at the acapellas but its worth it. |
