Blue Cat freebies are now update for Snow Leopard/Windows 7/64-bit... VST, AU and RTAS.

http://www.bluecataudio.com/Products..._FreewarePack/

Have all of these in my plug-in folder, but have honestly never tried them. The price is right, though!

Shortcircuit 2 is a SUPERB free sampler VST

I use it on almost all my drum channels as a very low overhead usage sample loader.

It used to be a commercial package but Vember have kindly released it for free as they've stopped development.

This looks nice. A very simple brick wall limiter called GClip. I just tried it out and I couldn't hear any colouration, as far as my amature ears & Behringer monitors could tell anyway.

Just a heads up for users of the fabulous Synth1, it's been updated to Synth1V108a A few minor improvements but best of all, it now supports up to 100 banks, get it here http://www.geocities.jp/daichi1969/softsynth/#down

Yep, it's always been a cracking synth, Ian B, and the bank support will be a great addition. There's a lot of sounds for it but trying to find them all isn't that easy, although I've got quite a few.

Cheers for the heads up.

No problem. Read the inc helpfile on how to get all the banks to show in Synth1 as it's not immediately obvious, oh and while I'm here, Synth1 is now at v1.10 (mainly bugfixes)

Default Free reverb

A rather splendid free/open source reverb > Mverb available here from the same guy responsible for Duet http://martineastwood.com/ Lovely sounding, especially as the GUI-less .dll is only 37kb unzipped.

Default Soundtoys Devil - Free plugin

The guys over at soundtoys are giving away a free plugin. The trick is that it requires a sharing code. My code is below. You can click on the link to have it automatically entered in.

Goto : www.soundtoys.com/sxswpromo/&rc=369-5449-426

Use code 369-5449-426 for registering please. You will understand once registered. Your decision, thanks.

Free registration, follow the instructions and Soundtoys will upload a free license too your iLok account and new Soundtoys account.

Have fun

You do require an iLok, let's rise above the usual dongle debates please

We put out a list of Top 10 free VST instruments a little while ago which were based upon a combination of downloads, user feedback, and views for all the free VSTi plugins on our site:
http://www.hitsquad.com/news2/Top_10_Free_VST_Virtual_Instruments/

The first one above included mostly Windows plugins so we created a separate one for Mac at:
http://www.hitsquad.com/news2/Top_10_Free_VST_AU_Virtual_Instruments_for_Macintosh/

Hope this is useful to some.

Jason.

Default Free Soundtoys Plugin The Little Micro Shift.

https://www.soundtoys.com/sxsw2013/&rc=219-5390-279

Its that time of year again for the Soundtoys giveaway plugin presenting The Little Micro Shift.

Sharing code 219-5390-279.

If you?ve got an ilok use the free code and your set.

Little MicroShift is anything but little. It adds massive width, enormous depth, and huge thickness to vocals, guitars, synths, whatever. Emulating three of the most sought after micro pitch-shifting sounds from two of the all time classic pieces of gear that made the technique famous (including one our designers created "wink"), Little MicroShift puts them right at your fingertips. All you have to do is find a code and this little slice of studio sweet sauce is yours.

MicroShift. Coming April 2013
This upgrade from Little MicroShift will take this classic technique to new levels with a unique and powerful SoundToys spin.

A Bit of History
The technique has been around since the early days of pitch-shifting, using devices like the Eventide H910(x2), H3000, the AMS DMX 15-80, and all the way to plug-ins like our own SoundBlender and PurePitch. The idea is fairly simple, small amounts of delay and or pitch-shift panned hard left and right. The formula's are all a bit different on all the devices, but the effect is essentially the same. It adds a width, space, depth, and thickness to vocal and background vocals. Of course it's been used on lots of other things but that's kind of where it started. It's also still a vital part of most mix engineers "bag of tricks".

Peace

''In the space there is no sound and here in lies the groove.''
