I have used ACID Pro in the past (5 and 6). Really easy and fun to use. Switching between Vegas, Sound forge and ACID is almost like using one single app. The GUI consistency is great. But it looks like Sony might have dropped ACID Pro now.

Yup – although Mac and OSX is not perfect (in my eyes) it comes a LOT closer to being perfect than Windows.

Sounds like good advice to me. I thought Sonar was very interesting when I dabbled with it a while back, but the VST wrapper thing still wasn’t perfect then.

pro 24 on the atari but i never saw an original copy of it..every studio i recorded in or worked in only had cracked copys lol..

even the college i studied at had cracked copys !! only the teachers computer had original software with dongle and in the end he had to use cracked stuff because a student knicked his dongle lol.

after years i did eventually buy a proper copy of it but only used it for a short while because it became obsolete and things had moved onto newer versions of cubase..in the end ive tried most sequencers but i could never get my head around ableton or reason so i bought a cheap copy of cubase sx3 and cubase ai4 and use those now and know them inside out now

I remember purchasing mine (at great expense!)

The manual comprised of a ring binder of poor photocopies!

In fact it was only last year I sold my Atari ST and Pro-24 on eBay. Oddly enough the chap the purchased it wasn’t interested at all in Pro-24 – just wanted the Atari because apparently it has very low MIDI latency.

yeah the ataris were brilliant for midi sync ..the atari 1040 i had kept time better than my first pc !! but the ataris were very very unstable and would gaurantee to crash the second you didnt want it too crash most lol..in the end i had 3 of them and ive still got 2 in my attic now with the monitor i keep meaning to one day dust it off and use it but then i remeber some of the downsides i had and think ill stay with my dual core instead
