Default Changing Bit Depth in Logic

Hi

I'm a Cubase user, but my mate has just texted me (a complete non-techy type) and has asked me how to change the bit depth in Logic.

How would he set up a basic project template so it's 24bit 48Khz?

Any help much appreciated.

According to the Logic manual on the apple site..

"Changing Global Bit Depth
If TDM hardware is being used, Logic Pro will ask whether you want to use 16 bit or 24
bit depth, when first opened. You can change the Global Bit Depth in the Logic Pro >
Preferences > Audio > Devices > DAE tab at any time."

Hope this helps

Once you've done it you need to save a "dummy project" at the correct rate/bit depth and have Logic open it everytime (you can do this as well) - otherwise, if you select "New project" it ALWAYS defaults to 44.1khz. This used to cause havoc with my Saffire Pro interface, which I've since sold on, mind, but that box does NOT like being reclocked by external software. It was like taking a bowl of food away from a cat mid-meal.

Just remember that when you open the dummy project to "save as..." immediately so you can continue to use said dummy to automagically load the correct bitrate/samplerate.

DAE will be of no use though if it's not a TDM rig.

There is another option somewhere under preferences, I just can't remember EXACTLY where.
