Default Logic 9 quits instantly.

The moment I push play on the transport....

Does it every single time. No chance to do anything. No previous comments online of this happening to other users etc, s I doubt its any issue with specific plugins. Besides, I don't get time to load audio to try plugs out on.

NOT AMUSED

This is going to take a full on system restore and reinstall to fix.

Glad I've not been tempted to upgrade yet. Think I will hold fire for a bit. Hope you sort the problem out.

I was fine on the original 9.0.0 install disc. It was the moving of files, then updating to 9.0.1 that caused an the initial issues. Apple Pro Support told me to delete L9, reinstall the disc and then go again....with no joy.

Logic 9.0.1 working very stable here with Snow leopard.

It looks like you cocked things up moving files around ED.

Im sure it will work fine one you've done a full system restore , it might take a full day but its worth it

You weren't joking. It did take most of the day to do.

Luckily, Snow Leopard doesn't insist on having Leopard installed before. I only had to fetch my Leopard discs for Garageband,Imovie etc. This made things a lot quicker, as Leopard basically has 2 copies of osx..one for Intels, one for ppcs. SL does away with the ppc, so it's 1/2 the space (and time) to install.

Same with Logic. It only asked for my original serial, rather then insist I install Logic8 first.

Although I was getting some crazy estimated times.... 178 Hours at one point during the install.

and I've now Time Machined an image with just Snow Leopard and Logic 9.0.1 o nwith all osx updates....I never want to go through this again.

I'm just doing my upgrade now from 8. I'm still on OS X 10.5... dont' know if that's a good thing or not.

Wish me luck

Well, How was it for you?

Aside from all apps generally crashing randomly so far, its been pretty good. I've noticed that its not so random. It all relates to Novation Automap. it launches automatically whenever Logic,GB or Record are opned..if I quit it before they have finished setting up it tends to cause issues.. But I've even had non related apps such as Itunes crash once so far. I'm hoping these are one off hiccups.

On the plus side, I know there is now now space wasted by things being duplicated, or freebies I had but never used, or random audio files and documents. Oh and old Leopard Time machine back ups...I have recovered many gigs of space With everything installed my Mac HD is less then 1/2 full with 90 GB's used. Although all of my external sampl library (70 or so gigs worth) is living on an external.

The installation was fine, and i've thankfully been ok with all my projects so far (which was the biggest area of concern for me).

The only thing i've encountered so far is that when i save/quit it at the end of a session it crashes half of the time. Anyone else getting this? It's going to be a proper pain in't ass if it carries on!

I've not had that issue. Have you looked on places like the Apple users forum and Logicpro.com.
