Default bus?

Hi guys.looking to record vocals and put effects on it with my zoom hardware but not sure how.. Can put software effects on tracks but am wondering about hardware.. Heard about bus recording but dont know what it is,, maybe im on the wrong idea altogether.. Will i have to use my output from my soundcard into my hardware effects unit and back on a new track? Any help would be great,, cheers

Hiya

Do you really want to record the effects? Wouldn’t you find it more flexible to record the vocals dry and then add effects (including outboard effects) during composition / mixing?

Thanks for your reply..yeah, i deffo would,, But would recording the track from my outputs to the hardware an back to a new track be the only way of doing this?

Not the only way. You could set up an aux track and use the I/O plugin, or two aux tracks manually, one for send to outboard, one for return.
