Default Ultrabeat Drag & Drop Setup..faulty?

Anyone else ever tried to use Ultrabeat D&D.

After using Logic for awhile now, I've figured out the kits that I always seem to reach for, and the samples in each kit that I like as well.

My plan is to create two custom sample selections using drag & drop as a template, and then save these two selections as custom kits. Rather then have 5 or 6 Ultrabeats running maybe 4/5 pieces, it makes sense to slim down for faster working and easier workflow.

Ive found that when I load a sample into UB's Drag+Drop mode, it distorts badly. They are factory sounds, I just want my own kit. But it sounds nasty !

Any ideas ?

As an update...

It seems to be linked with the midi velocity; ie how 'hot' the midi data that controls the audio sample is.

On the default 100 value, the samples sound horrible. Turn then down to 50, and all is well. However, in their original kits they sound fine at 100...

You shouldn't have to do that. Even then, your samples could still end up sounding different.

Check it out for yourself. I've also found that some of the samples in each library patch, don't seem to make it into the synth preset.

Go through a folder like Deephouse, and listen to the soudns one by one...I'm finding samples that don't sound anything like they appear in the preset.
