LMFAO you fancy your self quite the movie maker dont you
nah glad you got it sorted mate, was the Mrs holding the camera and cue cards for you :P
BTW you mentioned about expecting to see more behind the scenes, i believe this is the big illusion between modern day hardware and software, the hardware is a plugin wrapped in a plastic box, the old analogue stuff fair enough but i really do think this "new" analogue stuff is a little overhyped.

any way great vid bro

What happened to it? I'm at work - can't view the video, alas.

I've got one, and I'd hate this damn thing to break as I love it.

I respectfully disagree about this 'overhyped' new analogue stuff. Nothing quite sounds like it, really IMHO. The Little Phatty cannot be touched by any digital piece I have.

Same goes for my MOPHO and Juno - they just sound alive.

Im not quite sure what the problem was , usually you would be able to reinstall the Phattys OS Via USB or MIDI however i couldn't my computer and Phatty just wouldn't communicate the Phatty was totally dead.

So basically i wiped out the information on the phattys Processer then re-installed all the information in HEX file format using a Silicon Laboratories USB Debug Adaptor which cost me £33 from www.farnell.co.uk

I wouldn't recommend anybody opens their little phatty if its under warranty just send it back and let a Pro fix it however i bought mine secondhand off ebay so i had no warranty and as i had no idea what was wrong with it i had a feeling if i had sent it 500 miles to my nearest moog repairer who knows they "may" of charged me a couple of hundred quid to fix it ?

Good work! I'd have just got ripped off.

Mine is pre-USB, so touch wood, there's been no problems. I have updated it to version 2, but it works so if it ain't broke...

I'm not totally denying that years of 'analog is so much better/vinyl is so much better etc. etc.' from my old man hasn't tainted my objectivity

Also, I'm talking live as well - when recorded it can all sound the same, doubtless.

I had a band rehearsal last week. The difference between the sound of the Moog and the sound of the Virus in the low end was definitely significant.

Having just bought a Virus I can hear a significant difference in tone between it and my VST synths. I'm not claiming it to be better but the low and high notes on the virus certainly sound more resolved than the VSTs. I know the Virus is a glorified VST too, but still, it's different.

It still doesn't touch the Juno 1 I used to have for bottom end

'New' analog synths have been using pretty much the same chips for the past 25 years or so. Just the manufactoruing technology for the chips has changed over the years making them smaller.

More generally in analog synths like the latest DSI and digitally controlled moogs, signal control paths are driven by DACs instead of direct analog control from variable voltage dividers (ie knobs) so they are alot more stable than older synths. The control inputs and especially the oscillators tend to be far more temperature tolerant than old synths, again making the synth overall much more stable.

My SE ATCx OTOH (for comparison) seems to lack alot of this mordern compensation circuitry, so great for nice fat sounds, but it can be a real pain in the arse trying to reproduce a sound you made the day before and saved as a patch just because the house is alot warmer or colder.

Oh definitely - the Virus is a beast of a synth. But very steady. The analogs are warmer I believe, but that's not taking anything away from the Virus!

"The little fella is just dead"

lol

And I could swing a cat in that room. It might hit every wall on the way round, but it is possible.
