Hi,
I'm new to this forum. Music instrument maker in UK. Started my modular journey with the CRO-1. Its something a bit different and has gained some favour in parts of the noise & modular synth community. I wouldn't want to persuade anyone its for them as its the kind of thing thats either your thing or just not your thing! You won't get a melody out of it. it doesn't have midi (though there are ways it can be controlled by CV). It works by means of patching parameters through bolts, attaching crocodile clips to them. Anyway, as I say, something different! Unpredictable, sometimes noisy (in a good way IMHO), and prone to influence from contact due to those bolts sticking up in the air (thats intentional and safe though!!!). Welcome Ted.. well, indeed it's certainly something different. Fans of the avant garde, unusual and unique will no doubt dig this. Listening to some of your sound clips (watch your cones guys when auditioning!
), I'd imagine extracting some intense and wonderful electronic percussion noises.. Although I'd envisage sounds like this appearing somewhere like a deep Mute records release, the potential for sonic creation with this device could cross over into more accessible forms of electronica (used with care though, it is a beast for sure). Fair play to you for striving to be away from the norm.. ______________________________

Thanks modz1, I think you've done a really good job of summing it up in terms of where its appeal and potential lies. Its early days but I'm certainly getting some good feedback from people who dig this sort of thing. Also recently sold one to somebody making more accessible electronica with some commercial success so I am curious to know whether it will fit into their stuff. I'll probably never find out though. Yes, I hope I''m losing sight of the norm to the best of my abilities (thanks for the compliment)!
