What we discussing today then, hardware wise?
Anyone ever owned a Yamaha SY99 or a Korg Z1? The latter is highly sought after on my list. Very high up. I'd love one of them. I used to have the Korg Prophecy, and it was a lovely bit of kit. |

I used to have a Yamaha RY-30 as well. This was a lovely little beat box.
The other gem I'd love to pick up is a Roland R8 drum machine - Mk I or II, or even the R8M rack. Similarly, a Yamaha RM50 would be a good find. These were great little racks. |

how ive got mine set up is like this.. ive got all hardware plugged into my patch bay (synths/fx..etc) there all plugged into the first 2/3rds of the patch bay and in the last 3rd i bought two 8 channel looms that are then wired into my yamaha 01 16 channel mixing desk.on the yamaha o1 desk ive got a digital coaxial cable going from that too the coax input on my emu 0404 card and that way i get excellent quality recordings when i record into cubase if i want to record into pro tools i just take the coax cable out the 0404 card and put it into my mbox2 ive also got 2 spare outputs from my patchbay that ive put two cables in there and i run them into the mbox2 just in case i cant be bothered to unplug the coax cable from the 0404 card i can just patch things in individually into the mbox2. the yamaha promix 01 desks are brilliant and im on my second one i bought one when they first came out for nearly 2k then i sold it too buy a behringer 24 input desk then realised the behringer was crap compared to the pro mix 01 so i sold that and bought a promix 01 again .best thing ive bought the built in yamaha spx fx cards built into this are worth the money just for those, its fully automated and can be set to record many many sessions all off which can be recalled in a split second it also saves all your fx/eq tweaks. the lcd screens are great too and are easily the best ive seen or used in a desk at this type of price it has graphical representations of all actions so you know exactlly how your eq is looking.and its got multiple speaker set ups too so you can set up a few different speaker set ups to get a feel of how your mix will sound on different set ups.ive used mine for live too were it was invaluble i performed 5 songs at a pa years ago and each song was set up in the pro mix01 and all i did was recall each song and it was set up exactlly as id done when i had the record out so it sounded exactlly the same.great mixer that goes for around 2--300 pounds but has lots of the features that the 02r desk has this is smaller than the 02r but shares lots of the same pwer its bigger brother has.if your looking for a great/quite sounding desk get one of these much better than the korg/roland digital desks and cheaper than both. |

I have a midi controller i like but would like to be able to use it without a bloody computer
Any recomendations for something cheap, small (smaller than a 1U rack unit if possible) that will do passable pianos, e-pianos, pads? |
