I think they're just sound libraries that are compatible with most software aren't they?

yeah i think they are. im just hoping if i buy the x3 software the sound set from the emulator would be in the standard library, all the proteus etc are in there but it does specify the emulator II

There's also a free sound demo download on that page, might be worth giving it a go (soundfont) as the sound you want might just be in there!

Now i know the sound i just looked through my manual for my sd20 and found it may yet have a use. theres 3 different shakuhachi presets. still gonna have to consider the emulator, theres some seriously nice sounds goin on there.

Modz do you know if those sounds come standard in x3, im sat here with it in my basket, gonna buy it with a load of stuff but if i need to buy one of the expansions for that sound i will do

I've just realised I used one (or maybe even an E3) in 1988 in Arkantide Studios - North London somewhere. At the time all I had was an Alpha Juno 1 and I was in a rock/pop band. It blew me away, and I spent about 2-3 hours just going through all the sounds. Not great at £25/hr (NIGHT RATE!). I ended up using a guitar power chord sample on a song called E-Type.....cos it was in E minor.

See i find it very unfortunate that im not older. ive missed out on all the good synths (IMO) wavestations, emulators, m1s, microwaves, morpheus/proteus. now what do we have ? roland fantoms (sorry if anyone has one, no offence intended). give me something that makes me think "WOW, HOW DOES IT DO THAT!" in hardware form please

Not got bandwidth to check on that question for about an hour .. sorry Jay.. I'll look into it though as soon as I can..

LOL, probably. just wish it wasnt such a mission to dig out and maintain certain bits of hardware, ive been looking for a wavestation AD for about 2 years and cant find anything in good nick that isnt stupid money and i cant find anything thats got bad rack rash etc that isnt trahsed.
