Default Akai MPC 1000 - JJ OS

Has anyone had any experience of this? I must admit, I doubt I'd use the more intricate aspects of the OS, but I'm always obsessed with keeping up with the latest in developments, so does anyone have any suggestions or experiences they can report on with it?

In addition, can anyone recommend any MPC Windows editors that aren't a total pain in the ass to create MPC programs with?

I see FailedMuso's blog has a fair bit of detail about the MPC editors - any comments since you've been using them FM?

Ive used the JJ, not for a huge amount of time but its damn good. the way i see it tho is that the OS is more for people that do everything on the MPC rather than just using it along with a DAW or like me as a drum machine. Still if thats what your after id advise it, you probably will find yourself using everything in there as its pretty fun and has some good stuff to play around with.

I dont have it on mine, i just use the latest Akai OS. a Friend has both a 500 and one of the older 1000s (the blue and brown one) and i think he has OS1 (i dont remember seeing the envelopes so thats what makes me think its OS1) but dont quote me on that cuz it could be OS2 but either way it makes the MPC much more flexible as a standalone machine. OS2 does look like the daddy with those env controls tho. Just having grid editors is what really makes the difference over the standard OS

Thanks for the help, everyone.

It's one of those where I've kind of made my mind up, but save going through thousands of forum, I'll ask a few trusted folk to back up my notions.
