Default Hardware vsti player

Has anyone any experience on those. How much latency will there when compared to laptop and some plug-in?

When will SM Pro's V-machine be available, some stores have price already for those in range of 500€.

Muse is the brand and receptor is the name of the product. Anyway can any vsti plug-in be used or are there any restrictions? Hope Dave hops in

Yeah as Sureno said Dave is the resident Receptor owner (maybe others as well) he would be the best person to ask...until then here is some info that may help.

Yes, up until recently there have been restrictions... mostly down to copy protection. Nearly all simple ".dll" based freeware plugins can simply be copied onto the device. Anything that requires an iLok can be used and anything requiring disk based authorisation usually requires a Muse supplied dedicated installer package. The best way to check if a plugin is Receptor compatible is top look it up on KVR, for example, look at the NI B4II page: KVR: Native Instruments (NI) B4 - Virtual Instrument you'll notice a logo in the panel on the right hand side stating it is Receptor compatible... you'll find this logo detailing the compatibility on each plugin's page.

I haven't installed the update yet, but v1.7 has "Direct Install" features(Muse Research : News: Muse Research to Demo Direct Install Technology at NAMM show) which should allow you to install plugins onto the Receptor using the native Windows installers.

A few months back - someone posted on a forum about another company making a similar one/type which was a lot cheaper (and probably not as comprehensive) - but I don't recall the name. Any ideas on that? I'm sure it must be out now.

The only new VSTi player I am aware of is the SMPro V-Machine.... however, when it was announced it was called the V-Box. The 2 other items in the range are, as far as I know, still called the V-Pedal and V-Rack.

Thanks Dave.

I did look at the page but it was just passing curiousity at the time.

Cigar for you - I've just looked up their page and the picture is familiar - I remember reading about the V-Rack, which was why I didn't associate it with the OP.

I'll get my coat...........

What is the main difference between receptor and V-machine? Receptor looks like something I want. Will V-machine or V-rack be even better?

Just looking at the unit under his monitor in the second video...I did not know it was that big. Not excessively big but not small either.

It is essentially a 2U rackmount Athlon based PC running a proprietry flavour of Linux, hence the size that it is.

Dave have got Receptor to crash? I wonder how capable that V-machine is? It says it has 512Mb of memory which seems quite a little to be used with plug-ins.
