Default A quick introduction...

Hello All

I've been here for a while, but have only just started posting, as I've had a firewall at work that has prevented me but I've now worked out how to bypass it!

I'm a 34 year old from B'ham (originally from London but living in Bearwood) who is heavily into music in various shapes and forms. I work as a copywriter in Derby for one of the world's busy banks. You probably get letters that I've written the templates for! So apologies for that.

Despite having a couple of commercial releases in dance genres (one a collaboration with local trance act Solarston), and having toured with a singer/songwriter signed to Sony BMG, my main love is being in a band who've never quite got it off the ground due to location, clashes, family commitments etc.

However, we're about to embark upon the recording of an album. We did some demos and toured in 2002 and got some good acclaim, and a large fanbase for an unsigned band, but never really took it to the next level, choosing to stick with bedroom recordings that conveyed tunes but weren't the greatest quality.

I'm obsessed with synths, and prefer analog by far, but have come around to modern ways of working though I'll never be truly won over.

A child of the 70s - I'm a massive fan of Floyd, Television, Talking Heads, Sly and the Family Stone etc. but the band's and my current main influences in addition to the above are Pavement, Sonic Youth, Ween, Grandaddy, Flaming Lips, Mercury Rev, Ween, Wilco etc. despite not sounding like any of them!

Then I love dance and electronica, so a bit of everything really.

Good to see a forum that's not completely overrun with pedants and man-machines who speak in code!
