Default Hello!

I don't know if this is posted in the right section (sorry if it's not!)

Just to say Hi really

I am based in Derbyshire, UK and have been a singer/Vocalist for around 29 years.
I started on heavy rock and went through heavy rythem & blues, Soul, Jazz both live and in studios and most recently have been the lead male singer in a 20 piece Big Band.

I have recently "retired" from that scene due to lack of activity and gigs.

I'm selling my gear which was very expensive (As usual I had to have the best!) as I cannot justify it sitting in a garage.
I can always but a cheaper mic if I need one again.

I intend to keep singing and at some point and would like to have a go at something a little more "energetic" as I'm most comfortable with a rougher "edge" in my vocals singing rock, soul, funk, R&B etc, maybe a fusion of a couple of styles? Who knows?
I'm not in a hurry but that would be nice.

Anyway that's me

Mac.

Welcome aboard Mac,

Shame hearing you've retired from the scene, 'tho sounds to me like you'll be back on it soon enough? Good to hear your into your blues too. I'm working at a R&B festival starting tomorrow with some big names, Coco Montaya, Wilko Johnson Band, and loads more. Should be fun!

And yes, i'm afraid you've posted in the wrong section. The introducing pages can be found here: http://forums.dv247.com/introducing/
I'm sure Modz will be kind enough to move it for you though

Thanks for the welcome

I don't intend to "retire" from singing, I can't it's a part of me but I was just kinda tired with the BB scene as it just wasn't going anywhere.
The guys in the band were great but at an average age of 65-75 I was the "Baby" at 47!
Also after a while singing only "croonin" stuff was begining to reduce my range and vocal stamina! As they say, use it or lose it!!!

As I said I want to still do something but I'm in no hurry so I'll just keep my ears open and see what comes my way.

Yes please Modz, if you could move my post I'd appreciate it....sorry

Mac.

TBH I'm pretty open minded as long as I like it!

I have more of a hard/raunchy edge which can lend itself to soul, rock or R&B but years of swing singing and jazz have given me the disipline in my voice that I lacked in my younger years (just as well cus the range goes down as we get older!) Which in turn allows me to switch to mellow "Micheal Buble'" type vocals when I need to (Does that make sense?)

Brum's OK depending on what you have in mind?
As a regular rehearsal "being in a band" type thing it may prove too much travelling but if you refer to studio work etc then it's no problem.
