Grid computer recreates ancient Greek lute | The Register
Very interesting. I love the concept of modelled instruments - it's worked really well for me with NI's B4 and Modartt's Pianoteq. But this is taking it to a whole new level, by modelling something that no longer exists. Crazy. Wonder how many UAD-2 cards you'd need to power this baby. ![]() |

Probably would have been a lot cheaper to just build a Greek Lute wouldn't it?

Virtual Ancient Greek Lute
Kinda sounds like two Moogs layered... One percussive, one 'bell/marimba' kinda thing.. Anyone recognise if the musical intervals are of a modal scale relevant to the period of origin? ______________________________

So the lute is so much more complex than a guitar that it's only now possible to physically model it and only at 1/480th realtime? Those Greeks were well clever...
