Thanks. There seems to be quite a lot there but please note that archive.org is an archived version of millions of websites. It continually crawls the internet and creates backup versions of websites unless, as I do, you place the following in your robots.txt file;
User-agent: ia_archiver
Disallow: /

I disallow it because it just keeps eating bandwidth copying my entire website without my permission.

So what you are looking at in the link is not actually the Open Source Audio website - it is a copy of what used to be the Open Source Audio website. I do not know of any active version of the site.

It is not necessarily 'bad'
What you are looking at in that link is a copy of an old website.
Some of the old website might not be there.
The "Open Source Audio Forum" is not a forum from the original Open Source website. It is a forum on archive.org where people discuss the archived version of the Open Source website. Typically you see messages from people saying "please delete my video/audio".

So, if you find stuff to download then good but archive.org are not responsible for any copyright issues that the old Open Source site might have had. The stuff you download might be legal and free, but then again it might not, and archive.org don't care.

Ohhh i get you now, i thought "open source" was just a term for free audio, ah so all the live links from OS where taken and put into archive so people can download it and there for if the material was hosted on personal websites bandwidth would get eaten up correct

Sounds like a dodgy way to get audio if you ask me!

It could be painstaking trying to track down copyright issues on such audio, IMO.

What ever happened to those mics you won, Paul? Stick a lead in 'em and it'll do wonders for your creativity! Or get a portable recorder!

Yes, but the bandwidth has already been eaten up - the OS website's bandwidth was eaten up by archive.org because all the audio files seem to be now hosted on archive.org
The main point is that archive.org is just concerned with giving you access to old websites. It is not interested in the actual content of the websites so the OS site is no longer updated. archive.org did not create a backup of the OS data due to any desire to make audio files available. archive.org attempts to create a complete backup of every website on the internet unless it is told not to.

I've used Archive.org for some time, but more so for video than audio. It's a good place for when copyright isn't an issue (ie, Uni projects).

I've been scouting for some old (old enough to be copyright free) blues vocals on there, but have yet to find anything.

Anyone have any other sites they can suggest?
